"He's in a Good Spot"- Bo Nix Earns David Webb's Appraisal Despite Broncos Struggling Ahead of Week 8
The Denver Broncos have had a pretty turbulent ride that led up to Week 8, but rookie QB Bo Nix is still proving that he has the grit to take on the storm. While the team searches for consistency, Nix has already caught the eye of Broncos quarterbacks coach David Webb, who recently noted that the young signal caller is in a “good spot.”
For a franchise desperate to anchor its post-Peyton Manning era, Webb’s high praise offers a huge beacon of hope. Nix is tuning out the noise and leaning into his development and showing the kind of resilience that Mile High fans love.
The Broncos are positioned at a 4-2 inapite of the fact that they had an ugly offense that was led by struggling Bo Nix. However, the QB decided to take a lot of accountability of his problems this week. On top of that, offensive coordinator David Webb thinks that he is ready to make a run.
“I think he’s in a good spot,” Webb explained Thursday to Nix. “I think yesterday he handled the media really well. You know, took a little bit of accountability, backed up his teammates, and I think he’s ready to go on a little run.”
Even earlier this week, Nix had spoken how he is capable of doing more to bring out the offense from the slump. "I have to play better," Nix expressed on Wednesday. "I feel like I can overcome some of the stuff that is putting us in a bad spot.”
Now what about his ankle injury? Nix decided to not answer all questions about how much his ankle injury has affected him and his play to open the season. The Quarterback has also given emohasis that the Broncos keep winning despite how he plays, including back-to-back wins over the Chargers and Seahawks.
These are games in which Nix threw for less than 125 yards in each (230 total passing yards over two games).
What is wrong with Box Nix other than this?
So the “Bo-lieve” t shirts were noticed all through the Rocky Mountain region last year as Nix was being hailed as the comeback King and the next franchise quarterback to follow in the footsteps of Hall of Famers Elway and Peyton Manning.
But get this! There is a lot of gossip about whether Nix is even worth the market rate for starting quarterbacks. The Broncos are 28-12 in regular-season games he has started, including 4-2 this year.
Nix again did a confirmation on Wednesday that he is "not scared" and "not physically worried" when it comes to his ankle when he runs. But he also said that "it takes a while for things to fully reengage.” However, he has gotten a lot of criticism from Ryan Fitzpatrick. He is an NFL quarterback for 17 seasons and now an analyst on Amazon's Thursday night broadcasts. He labelled Nix's work against the Seattle Seahawks last Thursday as "garbage."
However, Nix has taken a more philosophical approach now to the criticisms. As per ESPN, he said,d "Playing good, playing bad ... it's a narrative. "I think it's honestly something we make up. I don't necessarily think I'm playing any different than I normally play; it's just every once in a while, a ball will bounce this way, or something will happen this way ... next thing you know, the stat line is different, and we're talking about something completely different.”
Nix said, even then, that he does not take any notice of the critics and said that it's their job to be opinionated and get paid just like he gets paid to play. He is only focused on what David Webb and QB coach Logan Kilgore have to say.
